VANDALS in Llandrindod Wells have stooped to a “new low” after public toilets in the town were damaged yet again.

The toilets in Station Crescent, next to the town’s railway station, have been targeted again this week, with Llandrindod Wells Town Council urging the vandalism to stop.

The council has sent out a warning that the continued use of the toilets is in the hands of the very people intent on destroying them.

The damage this time included the theft of a cubicle door from the toilets.

OTHER NEWS:

“We are sorry to report, that once again, there continues to be vandalism within the Station Crescent toilets which are owned and run by the town council,” the town council said in a post on its Facebook page on Thursday – accompanied by images of the damage caused.

“Over the last few years, the council has battled to keep these toilets up to a good standard, but still people insist on vandalising them for some form of pleasure.

“These toilets are funded by the council tax payers of Llandrindod Wells, you – our residents. “The cost of maintenance and replacement items has increased significantly and it is placing increased pressure on the council to try and fund these.

“As you can see from the images below, we have reached a new low and not only are doors being damaged, toilet rolls holders being vandalised or removed, but a toilet door has actually been taken from the site.

“You may also have seen the streams of toilet roll over the Station Bridge and surrounding trees on a regular basis. The police are aware of this and continue to monitor the situation.

“We are asking the residents of the town and users of the facilities to be vigilant and report any damage if you see it being carried out to the police.

The latest wave of trouble comes after a spate of vandalism in the spa town last October – on that occasion excrement and bodily fluids were thought to have been found smeared on walls at the Station Crescent toilets.

Llandrindod Town Council shared images of the damage but said some were “so appalling” they could not be posted, with excrement smeared on toilet seats, walls and floors, as well as other bodily fluids found.
